Attach Attribute Groups to Materials, Objects and Construction Systems and/or assossiated Articles
There are two ways to apply attributes and attribute groups to materials, objects, and construction systems; by creating a custom attribute tab in each element, or by using the articles section in the materials and objects categories.
As previously indicated, the "Add tab" button may be found while editing Materials, Objects, and Construction Systems. After clicking the button, a pop-up window will ask you how to name this tab. For presentational purposes I'll give this tab the name "Attributes".
Upon creating the tab, a message-filled blank page will appear giving you a hint on what should be your next step using this section. A drop-down menu with the choices Add Attributes and Create Attribute can now be shown by clicking the + icon in the top-right corner. Since we already have attributes generated that we wish to apply to the element of our choosing, I will now choose the first option, "Add Attributes."
You can see that when I clicked the "Add Attribute" button, a pop-up split in two appeared. You can view all the attributes that your organization has generated on the left side of the pop-up. The attributes or groups of your choosing are shown on the right side and are prepared to be applied to that element.
If there are too many attributes or groups, you may quickly filter them using the search box and the type filter at the top-left corner of the pop-up.
After choosing the right collection of attributes or groups for your element, click Save and go to the page where you may, if necessary, adjust certain values.
Aplying attributes to Materials and Objects through their Article sections works in a similar way to the "Add tab" part and is done as follows:
Open the Article section in Material or Object at your preference. You'll notice the message "You haven't added any articles yet" when you first open the page. The same plus icon as described earlier in this video may be found in the top-right corner. The two available alternatives this time are "Article" and "Attribute". To start a fresh instance of an article, click the Article button. You will be prompted to provide a name and description in a pop-up window. Keep in mind that both fields are required. When you fill them up and push the Add button a new article will be created. You must click the plus button once more and this time select the "Attribute" option from the drop-down menu to add attributes or groups of attributes to the created article. Click "Save" after selecting the right properties. The properties you choose should now be displayed in the article section, of that element.
